Abstract
El éxito deportivo de alto nivel es el resultado de una combinación de factores ambientales como entrenamiento, recuperación, nutrición adecuada, además de factores psicológicos. Sin embargo, tales factores no son capaces de explicar por sí solos la gran variación interindividual. Otro componente importante para la determinación del fenotipo de desempeño físico, el genético, ha recibido atención en los últimos años. La genética deportiva es relativamente nueva y las publicaciones tienen como foco la acción y el funcionamiento del genoma de los atletas de élite. Con un genotipado que está ampliamente disponible, se han multiplicado los estudios de caso-control genético generando investigaciones que aportan aún más evidencias del funcionamiento de los genes relacionados con el desempeño físico, en la recuperación muscular y prevención de lesiones musculares del atleta.
