The Concept that Teachers Have About the Factors Which Influence the Interdisciplinary Treatment of Physical Education in Elementary School

Abstract

The principal aim of this research was to analyze in depth the role of interdisciplinary teaching in the curricular design of primary education and, specifically, in the area of Physical Education. With this purpose, a discussion group was formed, and the following criteria concerning sociodemographical characteristics of the teaching staff were kept in mind: type of centre, professional category, context of the centre, sex and, finally, teaching experience. The qualitative analysis of the participants’ speech, carried out with the application of the software “Nudist Vivo”, allowed for the identification of several nuclei of information that were indexed and organized. This was done while considering a trajectory and logical temporal sequence, that is to say, since the interdisciplinary proposals appeared, or should have appeared, until the conditioners or difficulties that the teachers had, or can have, at the time of raising them. El objetivo principal de este estudio de investigación fue analizar en profundidad el papel de la enseñanza interdisciplinar en el diseño curricular de la enseñanza primaria y, específicamente, en el área de Educación Física. Con esta finalidad se configuró un grupo de discusión teniendo en cuenta los siguientes criterios concernientes a características sociodemográficas del profesorado: tipo de centro, categoría profesional, contexto del centro, sexo y, finalmente, experiencia docente.
