En unas pocas décadas, España ha pasado de ser un país emisor de emigrantes a ser un país receptor de flujo migratorio.
España presenta un patrón de muerte coronaria semejante al de otros países mediterráneos, claramente inferior al de los países del centro y norte de Europa y Norteamérica, y una posición media-baja en el contexto de la mortalidad cerebrovascular occidental, al igual que otros países mediterráneos 1,2.
Se ha comprobado un incremento del riesgo cardiovascular (RCV) con el estilo de vida occidental, donde el sedentarismo, el estrés, una dieta aterogénica y otros factores están cada vez más presentes 1,2.
La genética y el factor expositivo son claves en la determinación del riesgo cardiovascular del individuo.
Tratar de valorar la modi¿cación del patrón de RCV que determinadas poblaciones inmigrantes tienen al adoptar estilos de vida occidentales es una tarea interesante que justi¿ca el presente estudio.
