Resumen
The aims of this study were to determine the validity of the sit-and-reach as a measure of hamstring extensibility in paddlers with regard to discipline (kayak or canoe) and the validity of pelvic inclination measured with a Spinal Mouse. Fifty-one male canoeists and sixty male kayakers (mean age: 17.53 ± 6.28 years) were recruited. Straight leg raise (SLR) and sit-and-reach (SR) tests were performed in a random order. Thoracic and lumbar curvatures and pelvic inclination were evaluated with a Spinal Mouse system when maximal trunk flexion with knees extended was reached. Canoeists showed a moderate association (r= 0.66-0.67) between SLR and SR. Kayakers reached a moderate-low association (r= 0.59) between the two tests. Correlation values between pelvic inclination and the SLR were higher in canoeists (r= 0.68-0.71) than kayakers (r= 0.57-0.63). Associations between pelvic inclination and the SR test were higher in both groups (r= 0.78 for kayakers and r= 0.91 for canoeists). In concl...
